Is saving another's soul worth risking your own?

Former special forces operator, Ryder, has never backed down from an assignment, and he'll be damned if he lets a blonde-haired, smart-mouthed, pain in the a** destroy that record. She's going to get her life together even if he has to drag her kicking and screaming to do so, and he's not opposed to using a firm hand to yank her from the darkness back into the light.

MC born and bred, Kelsea is on a one-way path to rock bottom. Determined to forget the horrible truths revealed about the man who fathered her, she's drowning in a sea of booze, drugs and meaningless hookups. She has no desire to be "saved," especially not by a bossy former Army Ranger with deep green eyes and a sexy southern twang. Being locked away at his cabin, cut off from the outside world, deeply buried secrets are rising to the surface and lines between them are starting to blur.

The road to redemption is paved with heartache, though, and while Ryder wants to save her from the demons that haunt her, he's not sure it's worth the risk of losing himself or his heart in the process. But, in the end, will Kelsea finally learn to save herself?

Note: Ryder is the second book of the Guts & Glory series, a six-book spin-off from my Dirty Angels MC series. While it's recommended to read both series in order, each book can be read as a stand-alone. As with all my books, this has an HEA, no cliffhanger or cheating.

Wow are these Shadow Security guys Hot!  And what they go through for their women… just wow!!! I wasn’t sure the author could top Mercy (Book 1 in this series) but for my Ryder is right up with there with it. She has a flare with her words that just drew me right in and the characters she defines in her stories just seem to come to life as if they were family. I felt every emotional aspect as if I was right there living the storyline with them. The book had me smiling, laughing, worrying and just plain ole enjoying the read.

Ryder is a former Special Forces Operator who has done some very dangerous things in his life. Thing he has and still struggles to face. But being sent time after time to try and corral a spoiled, smart-mouthed woman, (Kelsea) is trying his patience worse than any wartime mission. He has sworn to himself that this is the last time he is going to be told to retrieve her. Ryder finds her in a bad way this time and decides to take Kelsea back to his mountain home (in the middle of nowhere) where she is going to play by his rules and shape up or he’s done. But Kelsea has other plans, she doesn’t like being told what to do as if she were a kid instead of a grown woman and she sure doesn’t like being locked in a cabin like a prisoner. These two butt heads at every turn but he’s going to get her to shape up if it kills him and sadly the emotions she brings out from his past just might be his downfall.

This is an exciting read that grabbed my heartstrings from the very start. It’s an emotional ride with fun, sexy and happy times thrown in. I highly recommend reading book 1, Mercy, first as the characters and storylines do overlap but Ryder can be read as a standalone.  2 Thumbs Up and 5 Amazing stars for a great addition to what is turning out to be one of my favorite series.

Great read, great story line, great characters!!! I loved this book from the very beginning right until the final smile and final page. It grabs you, pulls you right in and doesn't let go until you are finished; and even then you won't want it to let you go. Ryder's story began before this book began and you wondered back then, what was it about Diesel's cousin that bothered him so much and why did he keep going back, even if Diesel was his boss? Well, that is a long story and one that will take the entire book for you to completely understand and thoroughly enjoy. Their stories are similar in that they both have a past that they are trying to forget, to keep buried. Their stories differ in the type of pasts they are trying to bury. Ryder's is from his service days, Kelsea from her traumatic youth, one that no one knows the full story of, until now. But it takes Ryder pulling her out of yet another destructive situation, essentially kidnapping her and bringing her to his cabin in Kentucky and holding her there to get the complete story out of her. It's her beginning, and quite possibly his end, as their relationship builds. But he knows he has to bring her home and when he does he will have finished his job and will have to walk away. Now it is up to her to build her life up to what it was meant to become. And she will have to do it without him, even if it's killing him.

I loved this book and cannot wait to get my hands on the next one in the series. I highly recommend this book!
