Blog Tour: Manic Monday by Piper Rayne

Manic Monday, an all-new hilarious

and romantic standalone

from Piper Rayne, is #LIVE!

The perfect man for me is a blood-sucking lawyer. #pfftwhatever
Been there.
Done that.
Burned the T-shirt.
I didn’t swear off all men after my divorce, but I sure as hell swore off anyone remotely like my ex. On the top of that list? Attorneys. Everyone knows they can’t be trusted.
Now that I’m back in Chicago, my focus is my daughter, my mom and me. I haven’t given up on finding my happily-ever-after, it’s just on hold—indefinitely.
Then I see Reed Warner again, and he weasels his way into every part of my life, not willing to take no for an answer.
In spite of my better judgment I can’t stop thinking about the way his designer suits fit his muscular frame, or the way his blue eyes seem to eat me up with every glance.
You know when you’re on a diet and even hummus seems irresistible? Reed is like the equivalent of chocolate √©clair and my willpower is fading fast.
The problem? Not only is he a lawyer…
He was the best man at my wedding.

My phone rings just as I step onto the train. “Hello?”
“Victoria.” Darcie barks my name like she’s the head nun at a Catholic high school and I’m
showing cleavage.
“How did you get this number?”
“I have my connections,” she says, and I already know from her tone that she’s about to ruin my
“What’s up, Darcie?” I try to hide the irritation from my voice, but I’m not sure I’m entirely
“I just found you a partner to help with the carnival event.”
I blow out a breath and find a seat in the back of the train. “I don’t need a partner.”
“Well, he would only help out if it meant that he could work with you.”
A million swear words set off like a round of fireworks in my head.
“You’re kidding me?”
She laughs. “I wish I was.” I detect a bite of jealousy in her tone. “If I was single…anyway, he
requested you and we so rarely get fathers or father figures so in this case, I have to let him have
what he wants. And for some reason, that’s you.”
I watch the city skyline getting closer out the window. “Who is he to Henry?” I ask.
She laughs and then I hear chatter behind her. I wish I was in front of her, so I could shake her
shoulders and get her to focus on me.
“Oh, you’ll find out.”
“Henry’s mom’s boyfriend?” I ask.
“Nope. Ask for yourself. Gotta go. Oh, and I’m sending him your phone number right now.”

The line dies. Mother fucking hell. Am I trapped in some Mean Girls reunion movie?
I haven’t even tucked my phone back into my purse before it dings with a text. I’d ignore it if I
wasn’t worried that it could be my mom needing me.
Unknown: Hey, it’s Reed. The stunning guy you just reacquainted yourself with twenty minutes
ago. How about a nightcap tonight to start brainstorming ideas for the carnival?
I add his contact information into my phone, so I don’t mistakenly answer again.
Me: Don’t you have a son to watch at night?
Reed: Nope.
Me: I don’t think your girlfriend would appreciate your invite. We can talk details over a
morning coffee and that’s it.
Reed: ???
Reed: Not even dinner?
I don’t respond.
Reed: Lunch? Even business associates have lunch together.
I shake my head and try to tamp down my temper.
Reed: Fine. But mornings are hard for me.
I’m being difficult for the sake of being difficult now. I can’t very well ask Hannah to come in
late to plan some stupid carnival booth anyway.
Me: Saturday?
Reed: J J J J J My place.
The three dots appear but I respond before he can.
Me: McDonald’s on Peterson. The kids can play, and we’ll talk. Noon.

Reed: You run a hard bargain and I make a lot of deals.
What the hell does that mean?
Reed: I take it that’s the end of our conversation?
I don’t reply because there’s nothing else to say.
Reed: Message received. Have a great day, Victoria. J
I tuck my phone back into my purse with a giddy feeling inside. Damn it. I wish my stomach
would get the message my brain is trying to send it.

ManicMonday-Teaser 2-AN

Review by Barbara

What a great start to the series. I’ll start right off by saying I can’t wait to see what happens next in book two, cuz Manic Monday was just that dang good. The book is wonderfully written with humor, romance and lots of events that happen in everyday life that everyone can relate too. I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the book.

The characters the author’s gave us are just perfect for the storyline. Vic is divorced with a 7 year old daughter living in LA. Needless to say her opinion of men at this time in her life is not very good. She’s given up on the happy ever after and is concentrating on her child, her schooling and work. But when her mom get sick, she moves back home to Chicago with her daughter in order to help care for her. Her old boss helps her with a new job which turns out perfect for Vic. She works with two other women, Hannah her boss and Chelsea a hilarious coworker. Both women are divorced and let me tell you these women are a hoot, but just exactly what Vic needs in her life. (But no spoilers from me so I’ll hush on that). Vic  also runs into Reed which dropping her daughter off at school. Reed is a very sexy man who is absolutely too good to be true in at almost everything. Needless to say the instant chemistry between them is off the charts, the trouble is he has 3 strikes against him in Vic’s book: he’s male, he’s an attorney like her ex and he was her ex’s best man at their wedding. So he’s a definite NO GO in her book. But what about in Reed’s book?

If you want a great read that will have you laughing, almost to the point of tears at times, wanting to bop a few mean moms and stuff shirts on the head a time or two and pretty much have you grinning from ear to ear throughout, this is a great book to read. I highly recommend it and as I said up top, I can’t wait for book 2. Chelsea, the wild crazy divorcee at the office is up next, and all I can say is OH Boy is it going to be a hum dinger… I can just feel it. 2 Thumbs Up for Manic Monday.

Review by Kathy

HAHAHA OMG I loved this book! Was it hysterical; no. But there were so very funny situations, some funny banter and some really funny times between Hannah, Chelsea and Victoria. I loved this extremely well written story line that will capture your attention and your heart. I have to say, I was stunned when reading the relationship between Henry and Reed. Like Henry, my husband and I are raising our grandson (my son passed almost 4 years ago) and I signed him up for a Big Brother with the Big Brother Big Sister program, which he has (although his name isn't Reed).. AND...I work at Big Brothers Big Sisters! So you can imagine my eyes when I read this part of the story! Ok, back to the story, I loved the relationship between Victoria and her mother, her and Jade, especially her and her boss and co-worker (they were a hoot). And when she meets Reed and we discover who he really is, the story just can't get any better. I loved it!

The characters are exceptionally written and well developed and so very likeable! You will just fall in love with Reed! Ok, Jade, Henry and Victoria too! Ok, and Chelsea, Hannah and Diane!! Pete...nope you will want to drop a sledgehammer on him!

Reed is the hot as hell Assistant DA in Chicago and has a slight past with Victoria. He really likes her and has his mind set on getting her. Victoria is a newly single mother who moves from L.A. to Chicago to live with her mother after she learns that she is diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She had decided that after what she went through with her ex, she needs to focus on putting herself first. She will no longer put her life on hold for any man. But then she meets Reed again and all bets are off.

This is a wonderful read that promises to be a wonderful series! I highly recommend this book.
