Synopsis

Austin:

For as long as I can remember, my dad has wanted to find his biological father. I’ve been searching for three long years, but now I’ve reached the end of the line. It’s time to call it quits, admit defeat and go home . . . and then I met her.

Mary:

Times have been hard at Simoneaux Bayou since the hurricane came in and swallowed things up. But the community’s beginning to rebuild, and I’ve started to think maybe we’ll find a little bit of normal again soon. Tourists are coming back to Louisiana. Things have been so busy, I can barely stop to catch my breath . . . and then I met him.

The spark of our chance encounter ignites a passion that might burn into the kind of love neither of us knew we were looking for...

Review by Kathy

I adored this book!! I loved the wonderfully written storyline and being from Southwest Louisiana I could totally relate to the locations, and the people; being Catholic and Cajun I totally understood them. And living in Lake Charles, I would smile really big when mention was made of this city and the surrounding towns. Although the bayou was fictional, Dolphin Island is not and Holly Beach; prior to Hurricane Rita, was always a place where families would go for summer vacations or even weekend stays. It is, of course, the Cajun Riviera!!

The characters are very well written and are REAL. They are great looking, but they are also down to earth and not pretentious. Mary is a beauty and runs a small store that also is the "home" for one colorful older gentleman affectionately know as "Pas Bon". I love him. Of course he doesn't live at the story, but he does work on his artwork at a small table in the back of the store. Enter Austin who is on a mission for his father to find his father's dad, one that he never knew but wanted to know. Austin is smart, kind of a geek but he is hot and he grabs Mary's attention. He is staying in one of the cabins on the beach, not far from where she lives, but regardless of her attraction to him she is leary of him, especially when he says he's looking for someone.

There are a few road blocks for these two. Austin has to return home, Mary has to figure out what his happening with their beloved church's rebuilding and the sleazy real estate transaction. She's pushed him away, calling what they had a fling and Austin is hurt, believing that what he felt was more than a fling. But Mary's secrets have her pushing him away because she has to protect the old man who has become so important to her.

This is a wonderful read and I know that everyone will enjoy this wonderful little book. I highly recommend it (especially if you live in SWLA or East Texas..you will be able to relate). Go get it!!!

About the Author

olivia hardin pic b&w.jpg

When Olivia Hardin began having strange movie-like dreams in her teens, she had no choice but to begin putting them to paper. Before long the writing bug had her and she knew she wanted to be a published author. Several rejections plus a little bit of life later, and she was temporarily “cured” of the urge to write. That is until she met a group of talented and fabulous writers who gave her the direction and encouragement she needed to get lost in the words again. Olivia’s attended three different universities over the years and toyed with majors in Computer Technology, English, History, and Geology. Then one day she heard the term road scholar and she knew that was what she wanted to be. Now she “studies” anything and everything just for the joy of learning. She's also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and she’s sometimes accused of being artistic. A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband, Danny and their puppy, Bonnie.
