The man she’s always hated may finally take her down

Tara Johnson's sacrifices are about to pay off: a senior executive at thirty-five at a Fortune 500 company, she's one of the two finalists in line for a Managing Director position. Unfortunately, her rival of fifteen years, the charming, infuriating Richard Boyd, is just as qualified, and unlike her, he's willing to cross pretty much every line to get what he wants.

Of all the things Tara stored in the attic to make it to the top, it's her personal life she misses the most. That is, until she starts a steamy affair with sex god Aidan, her direct report. Interoffice relationships with a subordinate can mean the end of a career, and when Richard finds out, it's the perfect opportunity to take his high-heeled nemesis out, especially since he's still nursing a grudge against Tara for rejecting him years ago.

But Tara's increasingly domineering lover has his own dark secrets, endangering more than just her career. As her liaison spirals out of control, salvation will come from the man she always thought she hated, and perhaps the only one to truly understand.

Review by Barbara

What an absolute fun book to read! The author has done an outstanding job of writing a storyline and characters that the reader can totally relate to. As well as written events that are very believable and probably happen in the real world quite often.

The story will have you laughing out loud at the banter between the main characters, Richard and Tara. These two have been at each other for 15 years while working their way up the corporate ladder. The fights, the sly remarks and the scheming these two do to one up each other are priceless. Not to mention Richard's 15 years if trying to get Tara to agree to go out with him. But all isn’t happy times for these two. What happens when Tara make one wrong choice and serious dangers come into the mix? Can these two put aside their personal battle and help another? Can Richard convince Tara he’s not the bad guy she thinks he is? Can Tara get over her own personal poor choices and do the right thing? And for goodness sakes who ends up with the promotion and the elusive corner office?

If you enjoy a well written funny story that will keep a smile on your face, your eyes glued to the pages and still give you serious message in the mix, this it a definite must read. I thoroughly enjoyed Corner Office and I am totally looking forward to Ms. Baker’s next book! A very ecstatic 2 Thumbs Up.

Review By Kathy

I absolutely loved this book and related totally with the storyline (well not the men part, but the woman in the workplace part). This book is very well written and the storyline is real in it's view of women in the workplace, the glass ceiling, and the issues dealing with women who want powerful positions and the sacrifices that some of them have to make in order to obtain their goals, as well as the ones that have to sacrifice personal time and freedom to be able to maintain the position that they have. However this story does also touch on competition in the work place, as well as personal relationships with co-workers, or better yet, subordinates in the work place. But do not think that this is a hard core book about business because this will definitely have your emotions running hot and cold, angry and happy and even laughing at some of the fights that Tara and Richard have.

Tara and Richard, yes the lead couple in this book, are amazingly well written and well defined. Tara is a confident, strong, smart, sassy, talented business woman, who also just happens to be in competition for a promotion with RICHARD!

Ah, Richard. Handsome, street smart in business, charming, sexy, and he's been attracted to Tara since they first met 15 years ago. But it's the banter, well outright fighting that they do that will have you smiling and even chuckling as you read it. He just has a way about him that raises her hackles whenever he opens his mouth, of course he does seem to instigate all of the fights.....and it's so much fun to read. And did I mention he's hot! And together, he and Tara are not only a match made in the boardroom, but if he ever has his way, they will be a match made in the bedroom as well. If these two ever get together they would be one great power couple!

Aiden is hot, has tats and rides a motorcycle and he's brilliant in accounting, and he also is hot for Tara, although she is his boss and should be off limits. But hey, it's chemistry at its finest with him, and the sex is off the charts; until it isn't.

Each of the supporting characters in this book are amazingly likable and make you feel like you actually know someone just like them and you can relate to each of them in one way or another.

I have absolutely no qualms about recommending this book to anyone! You will never ever regret reading this book! Highly, highly recommend it.

Katerina has always seen Romance stories in everyday life. Well, maybe not "everyday", strictly speaking, unless you count spying on a charismatic hedge fund manager ordinary, or touring across Turkey on a quest to figure out the puzzle in the will of a deceived Turkish woman as something you'd normally do, or even battling it out on the executive floor with a decades-long nemesis who happens to be standing in your way of achieving your life's goals. One thing is certain, though. Love will prevail (even if sometimes with the help of steamy sex).
