Interview with Sirens
1. When and why did you begin writing?
2007 while my husband was away for four months on business. I was pregnant with our second child and caring for a toddler. I needed something to fill the quiet hours after my son went to bed.
2. When did you first consider yourself a writer?
When I could buy a copy of my book.
3. Do you plot out your books on paper? Or seat of your pants?
I plot out a very basic timeline of major events. Then I fly by the seat of my pants.
4. Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
No. No one I know has ever been turned into a vampire or married a werewolf ;0)
5. What books have most influenced your life?
I think the books that influenced me the most are from my childhood. They introduced me to storytelling. I read a lot of Girl Talk books and the Fear Street series.
6.If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
I've been lucky with my writing journey. So many authors are vocal on social media with encouragement and advice. My writing partner Astrid would be the closest to a personal mentor. She writes much tighter than I do and works with me to improve my skills.
7. What book are you reading now?
I just started I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie by Lani Lynn Vale. It is her first paranormal romance. I love her contemporary books so I had to give this one a read.
8. What are your current projects?
Made of Stone, World in Shadows #5 and a contemporary.
9. Do you see writing as a career?
For me, it is more of a serious hobby. I have three kids I home school and a farm worth of animals to keep up with. They are my full time job and writing is my happy place to unwind.
10. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in writing?
Show don't tell. ARGH!
11. Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I don't have a favorite author.
12. Do you have any advice for other writers?
Write for you. Reach out to others for advice.
13. Which of your books do you like the most?
A Scarlet Fury.
14. Do you get nervous when you publish a book?
I love food. Sushi or fajitas are the best
Favorite time of day?
What do you do to relax?
purple and blue
Cats or dogs?
Favorite music genre?
What questions would you like to ask your readers?
Do you know why a raven is like a writing desk? The riddle has bugged me since the first time I saw Alice in Wonderland.
